Privacy policy
Effective July 17, 2026 — applies to the TrayBar desktop app and this website.
The short version. TrayBar doesn't want your data. The app sends at most an anonymous usage ping you can turn off. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits — see "This website" below.
Desktop app — network activity. TrayBar makes network requests only to: (1) the hosts you configure for availability checks (pings, HTTP requests, or TCP connections go directly from your machine to those hosts on the schedule you set); (2) our server, for the two purposes below.
Anonymous usage statistics. On first run the app generates a random identifier (a UUID derived from nothing about you or your machine). If analytics are enabled, the app reports small events — such as "app started" or "panel opened" — with that random ID, the app version, your Windows version, and your UI language. It never sends names, file paths, program names, URLs, hostnames, or anything typed into the app. Our server additionally records the IP address each event arrived from, for abuse protection and coarse geographic statistics. You can disable analytics entirely in the configuration (AnalyticsEnabled: false), and the app makes no analytics calls at all unless a server address is configured. Raw events, including IP addresses, are kept at most 12 months.
Update checks. Clicking "Check for updates" sends your current version number to our server and nothing else. The app never downloads or installs anything by itself — it only opens the download page in your browser if you ask it to.
Crash logs. Error logs are written to %AppData%\TrayBar\logs on your machine and are never transmitted.
This website. This website uses Google Analytics (gtag.js) to understand how many people visit and which pages they view. Google Analytics sets cookies and sends usage data — pages viewed, referrer, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device information — to Google, which processes it on our behalf. When you download TrayBar from this site, we record the download (version, installer type, IP address) for internal statistics; download IPs are deleted after 12 months. Our web server additionally keeps standard technical logs (IP address, requested URL, time) for security and debugging, rotated and deleted within 30 days.
